I was inspired to create eshi following the recognition of a gap in the marketplace for lounge wear products aimed at the 'young at heart' women in their 30's, 40's and 50's.
As a mum in my 40’s, I found it so difficult to find sleep wear and lounge wear that wasn’t either too skimpy and lacy to wear around the house, too grunge or just too matronly. Basically, I created eshi for women like me who want a touch of luxury in their lounge wear, but in pieces that can be comfortably worn everyday and is affordable.
THE WORD eshi & THE eshi WOMAN:
eshi (spelt as it sounds) means "yes" in Amharic, the official language of Ethiopia. When I was in Addis Ababa, I noticed that the word eshi was often used in conversation, to illustrate enthusiasm or agreement. I found the Amharic language fascinating and the word charming. I was also impressed by the beauty and dignity of the women...so with all of this in mind, I felt eshi would be the perfect name for my new business.
SHARING OUR ABUNDANCE:
I am a supporter of Hope For Children, an NGO set up and run by Ethiopian women to look after AIDS affected children and women in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
A group of dedicated Australian women based in Perth have now set up the Australian arm of HFC with registered charity status. I am committed to donating 10% of all revenue from eshi sales to support
HFC projects. To find out more see www.hopeforchildren.org.au. |
